The Morgan Library & Museum has appointed the current head of a San Francisco museum as its new director.
Colin Bailey comes from the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco where he's been director since 2013.
His start date at the Morgan hasn't been determined.
He succeeds William Griswold, who left last year to head the Cleveland Museum of Art.
Bailey, a longtime New Yorker, has previously served as deputy director and chief curator of the Frick Collection.
He's a specialist on 18th-century French art and an authority on Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
The Morgan collection focuses on western European and American art.
The museum began in 1906 as the private library of financier and philanthropist Pierpont Morgan.
It underwent a major expansion in 2006 with a Renzo Piano-designed addition.
